A Government Decision was published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Moldova on August 4, 2017. It allows car dealers to obtain special plates for vehicles for test drives.
The measure was possible as a result of MBPA’s initiative to create a joint working group with several institutions – MIA, the Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications, “Registru” State Enterprise, the National Institute of Standardization of Moldova – which have dealt with the development of this bill.
“We are happy about this result, which is to the benefit of car dealers, but also the citizens of our country who are interested in buying a new car. Thanks to these amendments to the law, the car dealers will be able to offer, and people will be able to test, new cars before they actually buy them. Test drives can now be done legally, without the risk of fines”, said the MBPA General Director Alexandru Baltag.
The new provisions are found in Government Decision No. 588 from July 24, 2017 on amendment of Annex No. 2 to Government Decision No. 1047 from November 8, 1999 and will enter into force once it is technically possible to issue new registration certificates, but not later than March 1, 2018.
